Courses:
The race will be run above the Automatic Weir – Confluence through the town to the black pedestrian bridge in Admirals Park & back, depending upon class 1 loop, 2 loop or 3 loops. There will be no portages.

Let your Team Leader know you would like to enter, and find out if they will place your entry or whether you should do it yourself.
Entries should be made through the Marathon Racing entries system at https://entries.gbcanoemarathon.co.uk/entries
Payments for entries are made as cash on the day (alternatively, as cheque made out to Flatwater Racing Association).
Note: All paddlers must be current BC members (personal or Club Associate), or must additionally purchase BC Event Insurance ("Day Ticket" - £5 cash).

The Winter Series welcomes Paddle-Ability competitors (those with disability/impairment or long-term disabling illness, whether physical, sensory, or intellectual). The entry system does not collect this information - to be eligible for a "first Paddle-Ability" medal in each class, or to be allowed to "paddle down" to a more suitable age class, the team leader should contact Secretary@FlatwaterRacing.org.uk in advance of the first race of the series that the paddler will attend.

Safety Notes:
All participants must be aware that canoeing and kayaking is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk.

- Paddlers must ensure that their boats have sufficient buoyancy to support the boat and crew in the event of capsizing. Boats will be checked.
- All competitors must be able to swim 50m in canoe clothing.
- Any Competitors with disabilities requiring assistance should inform the race organiser prior to the day of the race.

Fire Safety: If the fire alarm sounds, please exit the club house via the nearest exit and head to the muster point under the High Bridge Road. No fire alarm tests or drills are planned.

AVIAN BIRD FLU: Chelmsford is in a Regional Avian Influenza Prevention Zone. There is no danger to people but if do see dead birds do not touch and notify the Race Organiser who will inform authorities. Individuals should follow best practice hygiene procedures and ensure boats are washed before using again.

Parking:
There is parking in the Baddow Road Car Park (CM2 7PJ). Access this car park by travelling along Parkway (A1060); turn left on Baddow Road, passing the Salvation Army building. Follow the road turning right. The clubhouse is a short walk from the car park, over the wooden Bailey Bridge along the cycle/footpath towards the town. Tall Vehicles Parking: Access through the hight restriction is tightly controlled at the request of the Council. This will be open between 9:00 and 9:30 before the race and 14:30 and 15:00 after the event.
