RACE CANCELLED (Sat 8 Feb 2:00am):
This race is now CANCELLED due to the impending Storm Ciara which is predicted to bring gusts of wind 50-60mph in the Hackney area on Sunday, with conditions at their worst during the period of the race.
Series points for the classes will be calculated on the basis of best four results out of the five races held, and we will identify a suitable occasion at another event to hold the prizegiving.

Safety Plan - PDF download
Event Welfare - Ian Stamford (ian@Leaside.co.uk)
All participants must be aware that canoeing and kayaking is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk.
Team leaders are responsible for ensuring the competency of their team members, checking the safety and suitability of their equipment and clothing, and ensuring buoyancy aids are worn when they consider it necessary. All u16 paddlers and those below Hasler Division 6 MUST wear a buoyancy aid.
Please note the river Lea is a busy navigation channel, can team leaders advise all paddlers to keep river right when approaching any on coming craft. Race starts may be held up due to other craft using the river.
Leaside CC will provide rescue boats, and bankside safety crews with throw ropes while competitors are on the water.
There will be trained First Aiders at both Leaside and at the race course. A sweeper boat will follow the race to ensure that no one is left on the course. The nearest hospital is Homerton Hospital, Homerton Row, London E9 6SR.

Location:
Car parking, welfare facilities and river access will be available from 8:30 to 15:30 at:
Leaside CC Clubhouse, Spring Lane, Clapton, London E5 9HQ
See map at http://www.leaside.co.uk/index.php/contact-us
Access to the club is via the A107 Clapton Common/Upper Clapton Road. Turn east off this road onto "Springfield" just next to a pedestrian crossing. Follow this road past Springfield Park on your left. At the end of this road you will come to a small T junction. Turn left onto " Big Hill" this road leads down a steep hill to the canal. At the bottom of the hill turn sharp left into "Spring Lane" (no road name sign). Leaside is about 200m along on the right.
Race start and finish will be in front of the clubhouse. All boats should enter and exit the river Lea via the access points on-site at the club.
Parking - very important:
