SS 2018, Regatta 1: Leaside

The first race of the Summer Series opened at Leaside in a minor heatwave - somewhat bizarrely, after the Chelmsford Regatta (which should have been the first event) was called off due to snow and freezing cold conditions only 5 weeks ago.

There were 33 competitors for the main part of the competition which involved several heats over 500m and 200m.

The class winners were:
u10 Girls - Libby Gaulton (BSF)

u12 Girls - Nicole Primuhamedov (CLM)
u12 Boys - Cassian Payne (CLM)
u14 Girls - Harley Crack (HYM)
u14 Boys - Dylan O'Connor (LEA)
u16 Girls - Imogen Hill (CLM)
u16 Boys - Benjamin Clayton-Harris (LEE)
u18 Girls - Lexie White (BSF)
u18 Boys - Finn O'Brien (LEA)
Sen Ladies - Catherine Robinson (BSF)
Sen Men - Ashley Townend (LBZ)
Vet Ladies - Lesley Derry (LEA )
Vet Men - Simon Cole (LEA)

In the afternoon there was a 3000m race which was won by Ashley Townend, and this was followed by the prizegiving.
